CPOMS, the leading provider of safeguarding, wellbeing, and pastoral software for UK schools, has partnered with Medical Tracker, the UK’s leading digital first-aid and healthcare management system, to help schools and trusts gain a more connected view of pupil wellbeing.
The partnership stems from a new integration with Medical Tracker that connects medical incident records with safeguarding and pastoral information in CPOMS StudentSafe™.
The integration allows schools to securely share relevant medical incidents from Medical Tracker into a pupil’s CPOMS safeguarding chronology, giving safeguarding and pastoral teams clearer context when reviewing a child’s record hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or termly wellbeing at school. By bringing medical and safeguarding information together, schools can work from a more complete view of a pupil’s wellbeing while keeping records accurate and proportionate.
“Safeguarding decisions are strongest when they’re informed by the right context,” said Rick Gardner, Managing Director at CPOMS. “This integration enables schools to place medical information alongside safeguarding and pastoral records, supporting more informed discussions and better coordinated pupil support.”
How the Integration Works
Through the integration, staff can choose when a medical incident recorded in Medical Tracker should be shared with CPOMS. With a single action, key information — including incident type, pupil details, date and time, staff member, and supporting notes — is transferred automatically into CPOMS StudentSafe.
This reduces manual duplication and helps ensure safeguarding records remain consistent, accurate, and auditable, while allowing schools to retain clear oversight of what information is shared and when.
Supporting Confident, Proportionate Record‑Keeping
The integration gives schools greater control over how medical information supports safeguarding. Incidents are only shared when relevant, helping teams maintain clear, proportionate, and inspection-ready records.
The DfE’s white paper, Every Child Achieving and Thriving, highlights the importance of data flowing seamlessly between systems, rather than being held in isolation. However, health information has often been held in separate systems, making it harder for teams to build a complete picture of pupil wellbeing.
The scale of this challenge is significant. Medical Tracker logs a medical incident every four seconds, alongside over 1.2 million medication administrations recorded in 2024/25—highlighting how much critical health data typically sits outside safeguarding records.
As expectations grow for more joined‑up data across schools, this integration brings medical and safeguarding information into a clearer view—helping staff identify patterns, understand context, and respond with confidence.
A Practical Step Toward Universal Safeguarding
The CPOMS and Medical Tracker partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting schools with interoperable, practical solutions. By enabling medical incidents to be considered alongside safeguarding information, the integration supports a more joined‑up approach to pupil wellbeing — helping schools build a clearer picture around each child.
“Schools have always held the pieces of the puzzle, but too often health sits in one system, safeguarding in another and behaviour somewhere else. This integration gives schools the complete picture of every child, built from specialist tools that each do their job brilliantly. That’s how you go from reacting to concerns to getting ahead of them,” said Daniel Neeld, Managing Director at Medical Tracker
