CPOMS has enhanced its staff safeguarding offering with StaffSafe™, now delivered within the CPOMS StudentSafe™ platform. This relaunch marks a move away from fragmented, informal approaches to staff safeguarding towards a consistent, governed system designed for the realities of modern safeguarding leadership.
Staff safeguarding has traditionally been managed outside core safeguarding systems, often across disconnected tools such as HR platforms, spreadsheets, or informal notes. These fragmented approaches can result in duplicated or inconsistent records, limited oversight, and increased risk—particularly when managing sensitive issues such as low‑level concerns, where consistency, discretion, and defensible recordkeeping are essential.
By delivering StaffSafe as an add-on within the StudentSafe platform, CPOMS enables schools and trusts to manage staff safeguarding concerns in one secure, trusted environment. Low-level staff concerns are recorded and managed in the StaffSafe module, which is only visible to authorised personnel. Safeguarding leaders gain clearer oversight, stronger governance, and confidence that staff-related concerns are handled with the same rigour and accountability expected of pupil safeguarding—while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Advancing Universal Safeguarding
This enhancement reflects CPOMS’ Universal Safeguarding approach — a model designed to help schools apply consistent safeguarding principles, processes, and standards across their entire organisation.
Universal Safeguarding recognises that safeguarding culture, leadership accountability, and high-quality recordkeeping apply to everyone within the school community. Managing staff safeguarding within the same governed system as pupil safeguarding strengthens leadership oversight and helps ensure records remain clear, auditable, and inspection-ready over time.
Looking ahead, CPOMS is developing additional capabilities to help safeguarding leaders better understand context across their organisation, including identifying patterns where staff and pupil concerns may intersect. These enhancements are planned for later this year and will build on the secure foundations of StaffSafe without compromising professional boundaries or confidentiality.

This enhancement comes as inspection frameworks and statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (Part Four), place increasing emphasis on safeguarding culture, leadership oversight, and the quality of safeguarding records. Schools and trusts are under growing pressure to demonstrate clear, consistent, and auditable processes for managing staff‑related safeguarding concerns alongside pupil safeguarding.
